The Deloitte homepage is the main entry point to the company's website. The homepage provides access to information about the company, its services, and its latest news and insights. In this heuristic analysis, we will evaluate the Deloitte homepage based on Nielsen's ten heuristics for user interface design.

Severity levels in heuristic principles refer to the degree of impact that a usability issue has on the user experience. The four levels of severity are:

  • Critical: Usability issues that prevent the user from completing a task or accessing important information.
  • Serious: Usability issues that make the task more difficult or time-consuming to complete, but do not prevent the user from completing it.
  • Moderate: Usability issues that are a minor inconvenience and do not significantly impact the user experience.
  • Minor: Usability issues that have little or no impact on the user experience.

There is a lack of consistency and adherence to the heuristic principle due to the fact that the main page's interface fails to stick to the same layout in all of its sections.

💡 Solution: Users will have an easier time navigating a layout that is consistent.

Users may be able to save time and have an easier time working if the login page is designed to avoid problems from occurring in the first place. Because of this inaccuracy, the principle that is supposed to prevent errors from occurring is broken.

💡 Solution: There is a possibility that there may be an option for users to view what they are entering, which will assist in minimizing mistakes by doing things like offering an on-press key to verify what users have put in the tab.

Following a search in the bar, the result displays a list that does not load properly, leading to a breach of the principle characterized as the visibility of system status. There is also a pop-out menu that does not have an option to manually shut it, which violates the user control and freedom principle since it prevents the user from executing a choice.

💡 Solution: The website's response time should be optimal, allowing users to complete their tasks quickly and effortlessly. Additionally, there should be an option to manually dismiss the pop-up menu for users who do not wish to take that option.

For a user to contact the company urgently, they must complete a form with only the topics provided, which violates the user control and freedom principle.

💡 Solution: The website should provide users with a separate list of urgent contact information in lieu of requiring them to manually complete a lengthy form.


Conclusion

These are some of the areas in which I feel that Deloitte does not fully adhere to the heuristic principle. I have made ideas for improvement in each of these areas so that users do not have any problems as a result of my belief.
